ITALY: IN SOLIDARITY WITH NAT AND THE PRISONERS OF SANTA MARIA CAPUA VETERE

THE PRISON KILLS EVERY DAY.
WITH NATASCIA ON HUNGER STRIKE.
WITH ALL THE PRISONERS AND INMATES OF THE PRISON OF SANTA MARIA CAPUA VETERE

In the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Prison on July 6, 2020 hundreds of inmates were MASSACRED by the guards, at the behest of the director Elisabetta Palmieri and the Campania penitentiary administration director Antonio Fullone and the then Minister of Justice Bonafede.

In the footage that we are seeing on TV these days, an unprecedented violence seems to emerge: we see prisoners made to kneel, with their hands behind their heads and their heads leaning against the wall. The guards with covered faces inflict head-butts with helmets, slaps, blows with truncheons on legs and back. And then kicks, and more kicks even against those already lying on the ground.

In the so-called «Slaughter of the Holy Week» the State has certainly expressed an apex of unprecedented violence, but we would be naive and stupid if we were not able to see the normality on which it is based.

From the so-called «suicides» in jail, to the beatings that go unnoticed, to the acts of courage of those who raise their heads behind bars as the 5 prisoners who spoke of the violence and massacres perpetrated in the prisons of Modena and Ascoli Piceno after the riots of March 2020. We know these things, we must know them, before mass media alarmism brings them to our attention trying to cry «scandal». It is not an exception, it is the disgusting normality of power.

A blow to the circle, a blow to the barrel: after the riots of last March, which ended with the killing of 14 people, with trials filed in less than a year against those who killed the inmates with gunshots and blows (POWERS WHO DEMANDED THE RIGHT TO THE SAFEGUARD OF THEIR HEALTH IN THE FULL EMERGENCY COVID-19), now the State pretends to try itself, putting on trial 52 between prison guards and managers at the top of the massacre of S. M. Capua Vetere of 6 June 2011. M. Capua Vetere on April 6, 2020. In the meantime, hundreds of inmates from prisons all over Italy are on trial for various crimes (including devastation and looting) accused of having participated in those days of revolt. And riot it is.

It is not the justice of court that we want, not because we are out of touch with the world, but because we are really down to earth. JUSTICE IS NOT EQUAL FOR ALL and it is not to this justice that we must appeal, but to the justice we have in our hearts, in our hands, in the truths that transcend the scandal of a news report or a trial.

In Santa Maria Capua Vetere has also been transferred for 3 months one of our anarchist comrade, Natascia.

Since her arrest in May 2019, she has been transferred several times, in addition to having suffered censorship of correspondence and various other forms of internal pressure. It is clear the will of judges and jailers to alienate and isolate her from the solidarity of those who support her from the outside and to sap her determination.

This latest transfer is even more significant because it took place close to the beginning of the trial for Operation Prometheus in which Natascia is accused with 2 other comrades, accused of having sent explosive envelopes to the then director of the DAP and to the two prosecutors Sparagna and Rinaudo. In fact they want to make it impossible for her to organize her own defense, since her lawyer is 1000 km away and they have 10 minutes of telephone communication per month.

Dispersion and isolation have always been tools used by jailers to exhaust the soul of those who, despite being locked up, do not want to submit to prison blackmail or undergo any repentance.

Natascia, an anarchist prisoner, went on hunger strike on June 16 to oppose the transfer to the prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere. She is determined to continue this strike until she is transferred from that infamous prison.

It is not to create scandal that we write this, but out of a sense of reality. PRISON IS IN ITSELF VIOLENCE, TORTURE, DEPRIVATION. The detention treatments reserved for prisoners who do not bow to blackmail are the extreme demonstration of this.

It is up to each one of us to give a concrete sense of solidarity with those who are locked up and continue to struggle.

Against the isolation and dispersion of prisoners and female prisoners!
Against differentiated circuits and special regimes!
Alongside Natasha and all the prisoners!
With the prisoners of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison
